Free Speech in America
My brother, who is a producer for NPR with a distinguished pedigree, found that a "lewd text" was discovered-- and promptly excised-- from his biography.
The offending passage was "Summa Cum Laude".
I am just idly wondering just who found that offensive or titillating.

Hilarious. I wonder if they have some kind of "lewd word" robot scanning the texts and taking things totally out of context. If it was done by a human, well, they need to get out more.
The person who thought that was obscene had to be woefully ignorant and lecherous himself (or herself).
The robot scanner explanation makes some sense.
However, I can well imagine a human being excising the presumably obscene content.
Something similar could have happened in those small American cities where library books like "Catcher in the Rye" or "Native Son" are removed by order of the local authorities--all while the local cineplex is showing "Saw III" for the third consecutive week.
