Two Worlds

Hey Vak, long time no hear. So are you in the Köln Philharmonik then? Wow! Let me know if you guys play in Potsdam or Berlin.

Rainer and I went to the Berlin Philharmonik when Sir Simon Rattler (is that right?) started conducting there. Rainer said they made a CD of the performance we saw. That was cool. Well, okay, part of it sounded to me like they took the brass section upstairs and threw them off the roof, but then again, I did the nearly impossible and got a B in Band one quarter at school. Rainer thought it was awesome anyway. I'll stop babbling now.

Hi Chistina,

Nice to hear from you! I was on holiday for the last 10 days and nowhere near a computer (was with my girlfriend on the island of Hiddensee, if you don't know it ask Rainer),am now trying to get organized for the classes in Croatia (I leave on Tuesday)

I know Simon Rattle (Sir Simon, as he now is) from my time in England, his (then) girlfriend was living with my (then) girlfriend. I do like your vivid description of the brass section. My own experiences with marching band were not so exemplary, I got kicked out for playing the cymbals with a snare stick.

Had been planning to be in Berlin for a few days at the beginning of august but I have gotten roped into some more coaching during that time. But I do get up there occasionally, you never know.

Cool that you know Simon Rattle (sorry I called him Rattler, couldn't remember his name). I got the B because I was mad at the band director and decided to get back at him by skipping a concert to go to a Baltimore Orioles game. Yes, I have problems dealing with authority figures. Have fun in Croatia!
